From the Oasis Resort Bawiti organized tours

During the local tours we take you back in time of the Pharaohs and Alexander the Great and explore the archaeological side of Bahariya, the Greek and Roman period and the beautiful nature in the oasis. We gladly advise you while building a memorable day.

Discover Bahariya Oasis!

The Golden Mummies. The impressive Golden mummies dating from the 26th dynasty are on display at the Ethnological Museum Bawiti.

The tomb of Zed Amun Ankh, and his son Bannentiu's family. The tombs are beautifully and colorfully painted with Egyptian deadscenes and the involved gods and goddesses.

The ruins of the temple of Alexander the Great. After his visit to the Oracle of Siwa in 331 B.C. Alexander the Great stayed in Bawiti Bahariya and made the sanctuary of Amon to its new Oracle Field. In the ruins are two rooms on display decorated with bas-relief sculptures. On one wall is a scene that depicts Alexander the Great making sacrifices to Amun-Ra and Horus.

The temple of Amun, Ain el Muftella. Ain al Muftella dates from the 26th Dynasty, approximately 570-526 BC., during the reign of Pharaoh Ahmose II. The second temple section was built by the High Priest Zed-Khonsu ef Ankh, the second prophet of Amon, in honor of his brother Sheb-Khonsu, the then governor of Bahariya. In both temple areas are beautiful pictures of all the higher Egyptian gods and goddesses on  sandstone walls,  the temple was built according to the Egyptian chakra system.

The Little Bawiti museum. In the museum one gets a clear impression of the original Bedouin life, their customs and their dress, which comes to life through the beautiful clay statues, which are very creatively made by local resident and famous artist Mahmoud Eed.
Hot and cold water springs. In Bahariya are about 100 hot springs about 30 to 40 degrees Celsius and about 400 cold water springs. Scientific and medical studies have proven that the water in the Bahariya sooths diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis and various skin conditions.
Jebel Al Haramat is also called the Pyramid Mountain, because it has the shape of a pyramid. The beautiful mocha and ocher layers that make up the mountain show the ancient age of this exciting area where in 1935, the largest ever from the Cretaceous period, the Sauropod Paralitita Stromeri Dinosaur was found. The dinosaur was 25-to 30 meters long, its humerus has a length of 1 meter 69! Currently, the caves all around the exposed cave where the dinosaur was found are also uncovered. It is also very special to all of you to explore this area on a rocking camel! It is also a very nice place to enjoy the sunset.
Experience the Arabian Nights
Regularly we organize parties in the traditional Bedouin party resort tent, but it is also very special to experience a dinner party and subsequent Bedouin party in the Sahara sand dunes!
